Jon SlaterJON SLATER is the Storm Watch Meteorologist for the FOX 25 Morning news.

Whether storm chasing out in the field or tracking the storms in the Storm Watch Forecast Center , Jon has seen and done it all!  For the past six years, Jon was the Chief Meteorologist for KOKI FOX 23 in Tulsa .  Before that he forecasted the weather in all regions of Oklahoma , and even checked out Kansas City .

Jon is a pioneer in the field of storm chasing. One particular stormy night stands out in his mind the most. It was the tornado outbreak on April 26, 1991, when damaging tornadoes touched down across northeastern Oklahoma. Jon's knowledge and skills would be put to the test that night as he tracking the tornadoes alone. Another of Jon's most memorable moments was covering the March 1993 super storm of the century when he broadcasted live reports back to Oklahoma from ABC to New York. He also covered the Space Shuttle Columbia landing at Whiteman Air Force Base Missouri in September of 1999 and has appeared on the Arts & Entertainment channel in a documentary about storm-chasing. Jon has been honored with several awards including a Heartland Regional Emmy Award for severe weather coverage, and has been recognized by the Northeastern Oklahoma American Meteorological Society for his dedication and outstanding service in Northeastern Oklahoma. He has also been awarded with the American Meteorological Society's Board of Broadcast Meteorologists seal of approval for television weather broadcasting. Jon is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
