LIAM MCHUGH was the sports director at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, Indiana, prior to joining KOKH as the sports anchor/reporter. In his eight years as a sports reporter, Liam has covered everything from girl’s high school badminton to the NCAA Final Four. He has interviewed 8-year-old little leaguers after a big win and four-time Cy Young Award winner Greg Maddux after a tough loss to the Mets. Both situations were awkward–-the kids were shy and nervous and Maddux was wearing nothing but tighty-whities.

While at the University of Buffalo Liam didn’t study much, but when he did it
was apparently communications related (he later received a Master’s degree in
Journalism from Syracuse). After graduating from Buffalo, Liam applied for a
job at New York Newsday, and due to either major clerical error or minor
mafia payoff, was hired. At Newsday, Liam covered high school and college
sports, and later served as the paper’s soccer columnist.

Around this time Liam began freelancing for several publications around the New York area, including ESPN the Magazine, for which he has written about nearly every professional and college sport. Liam continues to serve as a contributing writer/reporter for the College Football, Soccer and JUMP! sections of ESPN the Magazine.
